There was heavy police deployment at Makerere University as End of Semester One examinations got underway this morning. Most of the examination rooms had at least one police man from the Field Force Unit.
Several entrances to the university had policemen reinforcing local university security guards. several students who were supposed to be sitting for their examinations were seen lining up at Senate Building to access their identity cards.
The university Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe says that the delay in issuance of Identity Cards was a result of late procurement of materials to process the cards.
According to the University Academic Registrar Alfred Masikye, the deployment is to ensure no student accesses the examination premises without fully paying tuition fees. End
