Over 100 units of blood were donated today in Arua town in honor of international women’s day celebrations. The blood donation drive was imitated by radio Pacis in partnership with the hospital blood bank.

According to the human resource manager of Arua Diocese Media Centre Sarah Amviko, the donation drive is aimed at reducing the shortage of blood in the country.

“Looking at the situation in the country there is shortage of blood we thought there was a need to donate blood and we had to take the initiative such that others would follow,” she added. 

Arua hospital Blood donor recruitment officer Williams Mungujackisa urges other corporate bodies to emulate radio Pacis in participating in the blood donation. He advise the bodies to leave out politics and religion and come out to donate to save lives.

Koboko district EC Coordinator Geoffrey Feta

 “There is need for other organizations to also follow in the example of Radio Pacis and save lives” he said.

Badru Toko Sports Analyst

According to the Electoral commission coordinator Koboko district Geoffrey Feta, he donated to honor women who lose their lives in giving birth and all women who sacrifice their happiness for the rest of the family and the community.

However, Badru Toko a Sports Analyst at Radio Pacis said that it was his first time to donate after 32 years of his existence he said that he is happy that he has contributed in saving life.

Sarah Anderu a blood donor

Sarah Anderu a blood donor said that she is donating for the women who die in labor due to lack of blood. She said she started donating after she lost her sister in labor due to lack of blood.

According to Arua hospital blood bank statistics, over 7,000 units of blood have been donated in the month of January and February. End
