A new X-Ray unit building plus equipment has been commissioned at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital by the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Achieng with support from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The hospital director James Elima said there is still limited space for the hospital infrastructural development and there are still inadequate accommodation facilities for staff members.
He said the hospital is currently accommodating 20 out of 315 staff who are supposed to commit from the hospital to solve emergency cases. He also cited inadequate human resource for clinical care as one of the major challenges the hospital is grappling with.
Dr Acheing appealed to the hospital authority not to charge patients for the use of the machines The overall project that include initiating the radiology equipment, training of staffs and construction costs 2.5 Million Euros.
The handover of the equipment was witnessed by the Italian Ambassador to Uganda Domenicko Fornara. End
