Arua municipal council is still grappling with strategies to recover over 250 million shillings in market arrears from the previous tenderer.

Recently the municipal council tasked a special committee consisting of the mayor, town clerk, chief financial officer and the speaker to negotiate with the tenderer but unfortunately the report of this committee has been contradicted by awarding the contract to another tenderer.

The contradictions came as the previous tenderer requested to pay the arrears as he continues to tender the market a request which some councilors objected to.

The mayor Arua municipal council Isha Kato expressed disappointment over the procedure in which the market has been tendered secretly.

Meanwhile, the town clerk Kassaja Jamirl promised to write a report to council indicating factors that forced them to tender the market.

The committee has been again tasked to resolve the matter of the arrears administratively and report to council. End
