The ongoing upgrade of the Integrated Financial Management System -IFMIS by the ministry of finance is hindering activities of garbage collection in Arua Municipality.
In municipality, this has compromised garbage collection in the past week as drivers complain of lack of fuel to ferry waste collection skips.
Isa Kato Afeku, Arua municipal mayor says with the current rains, the delays caused by the system reforms might plunk the community back into cholera.
Meanwhile Fuathum Norah, the principal health inspector of the council says the situation may be worsened since their old garbage trucks also need constant repairs.
Jobile Cornelius the principal assistant town clerk and acting deputy town clerk Arua Municipal council however says the situation will normalize as the system upgrade is almost complete.
Effective July this year, the ministry of finance rolled out the Tier one IFMS which requires all funds; local or central government grants and expenses to be channeled and approved by the central treasury. End
