Thirty deliveries were recorded from two health facilities in Gulu district on the day of New Year 2019. The health facilities are Lacor Hospital and Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.
Vicky Adong the midwife in charge of the facility at Lacor hospital says that 18 children were born on the 1st of January 2019 of which 9 are boys and the rest of the 9 are girls. She says there were 3 caesarian cases and 15 normal deliveries.
From Gulu main hospital, 12 children were born with 8 boys and 4 girls. The in charge of the maternity wing of the hospital said only one mother went through a Caesarian section. At the time of press, all the mothers were yet to be discharged as they waited for vaccinations and monitoring.
Christine Arach a resident of Kirombe parish in Gulu municipality one of the mothers who delivered on the 1st of this month says she is excited though she regrets having spent the big day in the hospital. She delivered a baby boy of 3.2Kgs. End
