Residents of Ariwa 3 in Siripi Zone in Odupi Sub County have expressed concern over challenges they are facing in accessing health services.

According to the residents comprising both the refugees and host communities, they have to travel over 5 kilometers to access health services. This is because the area has no health center. The nearest health centers are Ocea, O’dobu and Siripi which are estimated to be over kilometers away from this area.

The residents say in the nearest health centers, drugs are hardly accessed making the situation more challenging. The women say managing antenatal issues have never been easy in this area.

The LC 1 Chairperson of Ariwa Village Innocent Amadile says the lack of a health facility in the area is one of the biggest challenges that his community is facing.

However, the Chairperson for Refugee Welfare Council 2 in Siripi Zone Moses Wana appeals to the stakeholders to address the situation urgently.

It is estimated that the population of Siripi Zone is close to 57 thousand, including 2,896 refugees in seven villages. End
