Radio Pacis Go Green campaign reached its climax with cleaning Avenue road and Adumi road in Arua Municipality as the world commemorates the Environment day.
As part of the activities to commemorate World Environment day celebrated under the theme: Fight Air Pollution to Protect Human Health and Environment. Radio Pacis and partners today engaged in a street cleaning drive in Arua town.
According to the Project Development officer Radio pacis Patrick Nyakuta, the main aim of the exercise is to ensure that westnile is green again and this will be followed by installation of rubbish canes and football match on Saturday at arua primary school and that “if everyone maintained cleanliness I want to assure you we would have a better environment, we would have reduced dieaseses when it comes to health and beauty of our environment’’.
The Assistant Director Radio Pacis Fr. Charles Idraku says the cleanness is a symbolic event and he urges members of the public to continue with the spirit of cleanliness.
Some of the participants in the cleaning exercise said for sustainability of a clean environment community members need to Practice proper disposal of waste, including domestic and animal waste, and that they expect arua municipality to put dust bins for sustainable cleaning.
However the Municipal Health inspector Fuathum Nora challenges the community members that it is every ones responsibility to keep their environment clean.
Meanwhile, the senior assistant town clerk Jobile Cornelius has called upon the community to have a positive mindset towards conserving the environment and that this particular exercise by Radio pacis has supplemented their efforts as a municipal council.
This campaign will continue until the Radio celebrates its 15th anniversary on the 30th of October 2019. End
