Arua district council has officially sent off the councilors who hail from Madi counties. This is for them to prepare to constitute an interim council to govern madi-okollo district that will be operational by 1st July. The council recommends that the new district that will be autonomous should continue with the fight against charcoal burning that remains a problem in Madi counties.
The chairman of the district, Wadri Sam Nyakua calls upon the leaders of the new district to monitor use of government resources. “I want to appeal to the new leaders to be firm and a solid body. I want to say that there is corruption even here in Arua but don’t generalize it”
Stella Aletiru the chairperson of social services in the district urges Arua district to continue giving assistance to the new district.
Mayor Buga the councilor representing Arua hill division had this to say:
“We must set a record that the mother district is delivering the people of madi on 1st. Indeed we will miss many of you both at technical and political level but we wish you a very nice start off, be autonomous but do not be at logger heads with the mother district”
Madi Okollo district that was requested in Arua district council two decades ago will start operations by 1st July this year with a budget of 15 billion shillings. End
