Police has launched a brass band to strengthen community policing in North Kyoga Region in an even presided over by the Chief Political Commissary of the Uganda Police AIGP Asan Kasingye.

The launch that took place at Lira Golden Park on Tuesday is an initiative of the Music Dance and Drama department of the Directorate of Political Commissorate of the Uganda Police Force.

While addressing the gathering, AIGP kasingye revelaed that the band services will be instrumental in strengthening community policing within the region to reduce the rate of crime.

Kasingye blasted some police officers who switch off their phones at night saying the practice must stop because police are trained to work over night.

He implored police in the region to use the band to improve on the image of the police which has remained tainted over time.

This he said this will go a long way into building back the relationship between the police and members of the community.

The Brass and jazz  band are intended to build the talents of the youth within the region through the trainings that they will under take.

Meanwhile George Okello Ayo,  the vice chairperson Lira District Local Government who said he is a local musician pledge full support of the District towards the development of the band.

On the other hand,  the Lira RDC Milton Odongo tasked the police to maintain a good working relationship with the locals with zero tolerance to corruption.

North Kyoga Police Region is among the first regions to have a brass band outside Kampala. END.
