The contractor of the multibillion value addition plant at Awindiri in Arua municipality is determined to complete the works before the set deadline.
The value addition project in Arua municipality is nearing completion with about five months to go as per the set deadline.
This plant at Awindiri contracted to China Kwampe food limited has machines already installed for grain processing and sorting.
Acting town clerk Arua municipal council Jobile Cornelius is optimistic that, the contractor is likely to hand over these facilities before the deadline of June.
Jobile says what remains to complete this circuit is installation of power because the machines cannot work without power. He adds that after the completion of the installation of the various machines, power will be connected to test the machines and then the facility will be handed over.
The project was awarded in December 2018, it commenced from March 2019 and the completion is expected to be in June 2020 this year.
The acting town clerk urges farmers to take advantage of the machines since the machines will be producing high quality produce. For example the maize milling plant has a capacity of producing five tons of maize flour per day. Farmers are urged to plant a lot of maize so that they supply otherwise the machine will be redundant.
The mayor Arua municipal council AL haji Isa Kato is now challenging the farmers in west Nile to scale up production of grains to feed the factory.
The factory worth 8.5 billion Ugandan shillings was incorporated as a sub component of the bigger Arua main market construction project which is expected to be ready by February this year. END.
