Court heard that Okot poured petrol and burnt his wife to death on January 6, 2020. He appeared before Gulu grade-one magistrate, Vian Kwezira.

Acellam’s brief facts were read to him and he was not allowed to say anything as the court he appeared before had no jurisdiction to handle his case

Magistrate Kwezira then remanded him to Gulu Central Government Prison till January 29, 2020.

According to some family members, who flocked the court premises with resentment, the two had a sour relationship and the woman had moved back to her parents’ home.

But the accused followed the victim to her parents’ home, stabbed her with a knife on the fore head and poured petrol on her before setting her ablaze. The deceased was later rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor where she was pronounced dead. End. newsroom@radiopacis.org
