Uganda has tabled a proposal of having in place a Commonwealth Youth Fund as one way of financing and empowering youth in the 52 member States.

The proposal was presented by the State Minister for Youth and Children Nakiwala Kiyingi in a closed-door meeting for youth ministers together with a section of youth leaders within the Commonwealth member States yesterday.

According to Nakiwala the proposal was given in light of the failure by young people to get low-cost capital in the Commonwealth member states and Uganda in particular resulting into the high rate of unemployment. End
