Moyo district health department in line with other sectors in the district have developed a new 5 years HIV and AIDS strategic plan to reduce new infections and death as result of HIV/AIDS in the district.
The plan started in the FY 2015/16 and it will run up to 2019/2020.
The district HIV focal person Michael Adrawa explains that so far they have achieved some progress in the fight.
According to Michael the district intends to achieve the strategic plans in the next five years through partnership with IDI.
Uganda AIDS commission plays key roles in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of HIV and AIDS related activities.
According to Susan Chandiru from Uganda AIDS commission, it’s mandatory for districts to develop HIV strategic plans out of the national strategic plan.
Moyo district has Infectious Disease Institute on board as their key partner in the implementation of the strategic plan.
Dr Paul Wavamuno the field coordinator IDI for Moyo and Adjumani districts pledges to work with the health office to come up with activities to help address the issue.
Evenly Akello the program manager of MEX is impressed with the theme I am responsible; we are responsible the district hopes to undertake the plan.
However she said the best area to manage epidemic is at the district level.
The Sub county and district leaders were briefed about the 5 years strategic plan during the dissemination program. End
