The shortage of food for both the local communities and the refugees in Moyo in district that has resulted into high prices of food items in the district has been attributed to the big number of south Sudanese refugees in the region.
In order to improve on the scarcity of food in the market, Gimara sub county local government through the land lords have offered over one thousand hectares of land to the refugees in the district for production purposes.
Awomi Sami Longa the local council three person says though most of the communities in the sub county are farmers over six hectares of land in Gimara sub county remains unused for production.
While celebrating Uganda’s 55 years of independence in Gimara sub county Obongi County, Williams Anyama the local council five chairperson Moyo district local government said as a government they remain committed to ensuring the interest and the freedom of the people is protected besides other challenges.
However according to Hassan Kaps Fungaroo the member of parliament of Obongi County, Uganda is doing badly items of freedom of expression and association that soon it may result into dictatorship.
The celebration was held under the theme Uganda’s freedom must be anchored in the spirit of hard work, resilience and commitment. End
