ARUA CITY RESIDENTS URGED TO EMBRACE POPULATION CENSUS.

As Uganda prepares for the 11th census since independence, the people in Arua central division have been urged to actively avail themselves for the forth coming   housing and population census 2024

Census serves as a basis for national and local planning, providing essential data on population housing conditions, asset ownership and social services.

In an exclusive interview with Wadri Sam Nyakua the mayor of Arua city, who advises that Ugandans living outside the country should also avail themselves for the   censusThe night of 9th should get everybody in the places of residence that where you’re going to be counted actually I want to encourage our people outside those in Congo, South Sudan to come back home the implications are big so people should take this serious because it informs the planning it informs resource allocation it is very crucial”. Nyakua Added. 

Droti Felix a citizen of the country, stresses the need for everybody to be counted given the impact the census has in planning and funds allocation. “Carrying population census is very important ever since it started in Uganda in 1911 to data it is important to be counted when you’re not counted just consider the number in your area is reduced by yourself if you’re counted”. Droti said.

Uganda is set to conduct digital population and housing census beginning on the night of 9th May up to the 19th of May 2024.
