The Uganda National Roads Authority has issued a travel advisory on November 27, 2024, urging motorists against movement across river Nile via Pakwach Bridge, as flooding continue to submerge Tangi Junction, along Olwiyo- Pakwach road.

This follows November 27, 2024 heavy downpour that pounded almost every part of Northern Uganda.

The Authority said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter that the flooding has disconnected movement from Arua- Gulu and from Gulu to Kampala.

“We’ve received reports of flooding at Tangi Junction along the Olwiyo—Pakwach road affecting connectivity for travellers from Arua to Gulu and Gulu to Kampala” UNRA statement on X, formerly Twitter reads in part.

The authority added that, “Motorists are STRONGLY advised to use alternative routes and avoid the flooded section as water levels continue to rise at this section”

Locals have since morning been sharing the photos and video footage of the floods, that has left travelers and motorists stranded and grounded respectively.

For years, River Tangi has been bursting its banks disconnecting and disrupting activities for people of west Nile and Northern Uganda.

But for years, local leaders have been voicing their appeal for a long time lasting solution for the deep seated all- year round flooding at Tangi River.
