ST. KIZITO LOGOBA CHURCH IN MOYO VICARIATE CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

St. Kizito Logoba church in Moyo vicariate Arua diocese on December 15 2024 in a colorful event celebrates one hundred years anniversary of catholic faith.
The chapel was established in the year 1924 by Rev Father Molnaro luigi the first white priest in madi sub- region under a guava tree, locally called ‘‘eleu’’ in madi’ti, the current oloro borehole.
The Bishop Ordinary of Arua diocese His Lordship Sabino Ocan Odoki was the main celebrant for the mass co-celebrated by the other priests.
In his homily reflection on the first reading from prophet Zephaniah 3:14-18A and second reading taken from st Paul’s letter to the Philippians 4:4-7,the lord bishop urged Christians to a source of encouragement to each other as we prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
‘‘As prophet Zephaniah tells us, rejoice and exult with all your hearts, oh daughters, we are now the daughters and sons of Jerusalem, Jesus has come for all of us, the lord is in our amidst, the prophet is telling us not to have fear, the lord has come to strengthen us, he has come to bring us closer to our greatest warrior ‘‘God’’, the same message is given to us by st .Paul in his letter to Philippians he says prepare for the lord is near and we are to ask the lord to continue blessing us ,let us be source encouragement to each other,’’ the bishop remarked.
As the bishop concluded his homily he also condemned the act of corruption and extortion relating to the teaching of John the Baptist in the second reading encouraging Christians to be faithful to their mission.
‘‘People like the tax collectors extorting money, John told them don’t do more than what you are allowed by the law ,even other groups like the soldiers were told not to extort money by threat ,’’the bishop emphasized .
Anyanzo Julius the head Catechist St.Kizito Logoba Chapel appreciated the Christians and the religious leaders for their support towards the development of the church.
The LC5 chairperson Moyo district Williams Anyama explained that celebration of 100 years is a sign that the catholic faith has taken roots in the community.
“we are very grateful to the lord bishop together with other clergy for joining the Christians in celebrating the central a 100 yrs. of catholic faith in logoba, this has been a wonderful occasion and it is a grate sign that the catholic faith has taken very deep tape roots,’’ he said.
Hon .George Bhoka Didi the Member of Parliament for Obongi County who was the chief guest at the event says that this is an occasion for the believers to renew their faith.
‘‘We use this occasion to reflect on our faith as Christians and it helps us deepen our belief in our religious norms, value system and practices,” he pointed.
In the same event, seven couples received sacrament of holy matrimony, 108 children was confirmed, fundraising for the construction for father’s house and also a parish priest was appointed by the lordship for the parish.
