While most people were out welcoming the New Year 2025, some families welcomed not only the New Year but new babies adding on the members of the family.
Statistics from Arua regional referral hospital maternity ward indicated that 15 babies were born between midnight of January 1st and 2nd where 10 where normal deliveries, 5 ceaser cases of which 7 where referral cases from Oli health center 4, Adumi health center 4, Kuluva hospital, police heath center 3 and Moyo.
The incharge of maternity at Oli health center 4, Shaban Oyeru Zuliaka says the New Year was quiet day at the health center which had only had two deliveries.
“When you look at the day, I think it was quiet day compared to Christmas where we had 17 deliveries on 1st January we had our mothers who delivered 2 babies, a baby boy and baby girl and we also had one referral to Arua hospital, both mothers are well and their babies. We have discharged them in good condition after immunization so we are expecting them to again after 6 days.”
The arrival of a baby is always a momentous occasion for many families but it is more special when it happens on New Year’s Day which many see as the first blessings of the year.
