SAD! 13-YEAR- OLD GIRL MURDERED IN NEBBI

Police in Nebbi district are investigating an alleged murder of a 13-year-old girl, a resident of Atyak village, Kalwang Parish, Nebbi Sub-County.
The deceased has been identified as Jovian Yikparwoth, a female Pupil of Patek Paduk Primary school.
The January 2, 2025 incident occurred when the deceased moving with her two friends came under attack, by a group of three unidentified freaks at around 6:00 am, when they were returning from a social gathering, according to police.
The West Nile region Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that her body was discovered in a nearby garden by relatives and community.
Asea added that one suspect identified as Roy Okurboth, has been arrested to aid in the investigation after a canine dog led a team of investigators to his shop.
“At approximately 6:00 a.m., a 13-year-old female pupil of Patek Paduk Primary School, identified as Yikparwoth Jovian, was reportedly attacked while walking with two friends. The group was returning from a social event within Atyak Village and heading to the home of her brother in Moro Central Village. The deceased was allegedly confronted by three unidentified individuals who subjected her to a heinous act of violence, resulting in her death. Her body was discovered in a nearby cassava garden following a search initiated by her brother and the local community” Asea said.
Police issued a firm commitment of thorough investigation into this nerve-racking occurrence, to ensure the family gets justice.
The deceased’s body has been conveyed for autopsy to Nebbi General Hospital. The case is registered Under CRB 001/2025.
Police have appealed for calm, rallying community to provide authorities with relevant information that can lead to arrest of the suspected maniacs.
