As Ugandans are a year to the 2026 general elections, tensions and propaganda are mounting in Terego district political arena as Key politicians’ finger point at each other, pulling muscles to tame voters behind their ideologies.

The three giants including Obiga Kania the Member of Parliament for Terego East who is also the state minister for urban development and the district NRM party Chairman, Obiga Rose the woman MP and the District Chairman Wilfred Saka have openly come at every gathering to confront each other, bringing out their emotion in a bid to discredit efforts put in service delivery.

According to Obiga Kania the Member of Parliament for Terego East Constituency and the Party Chairman of the Ruling NRM Party, he no longer has any relationship with the Woman Member Parliament Obiga Rose after she decided to openly associate with the District Chairman Wilfred Saka who is in Opposition Alliance for National Transformation ANT.

“She (Obiga Rose) claims to be NRM but in the truth what she does shows clearly that she is not NRM, she is the Champaign manager for Saka the L.C IV chairperson who is in the ANT (Alliance for National Transformation) party, there’s no way our interests could come together.”

While Rose Obiga the woman Member of Parliament argues that her fall out with the Party chairman Obiga Kania came shortly after her declaration of interest to contest as the next party chairman.

“I want to contest as NRM chairman for Terego and the position is not a reservation for the Honorable minister Obiga Kania, how can I not work with Saka when Museveni himself appointed Nobert Mao?”

Whereas Wilfred Saka the District Chairman Terego accused Obiga Kania for interfering with his administration and frustrating development efforts run by the local government.

“I’ve lost patience, one person can never be the only person who is right and the rest are wrong, how can you disapprove the performance and works of the Woman MP, the MP Terego West Constituency and the LC 5 chairman and you’re the only right person in Terego? This speaks volumes.”

However, Juma Shesha the West Nile Election Officer in the office of the electoral commission describes the events as blackmail for cheap popularity and political gain.

“They’re just looking for political space, they want to undo the other one so that they gain political capital but that is bad politics.”
This kind of political fights and divisions negatively affects service delivery.
