Zombo

The leadership of Paidha town council, Zombo District has ordered bus operators to relocate to the bus park with effect from Thursday February 27, 2025.

The bus park is currently being occupied by matooke traders, who were relocated there during the COVID-19 induced lockdown to decongest the main Market.

This move is aimed at reorganizing the town as in line with council’s physical plan.

Authorities have also ordered matooke traders to relocate to their initial area of operation in the charcoal market in central ward.

The LCIII chairperson of Paidha town council Innocent Godfrey Onega, called upon businessmen, community and bus managers to comply with the changes to restore order on the streets.

The news has been greeted with excitements by charcoal traders and ground nut paste traders, since a garbage point there has been a menace for their lives since 2020.

Onega also directed the town clerk and other concerned stakeholders to “effect the program implementation without fail.”

All bus companies in the business oriented town of Paidha have their parking yards along the streets. This to many town residents congest the ever busy Paidha streets thus exacerbating avoidable accidents.

Amos Jacan, the Zombo District youth chairperson and a resident of Paidha town council welcomed the idea, noting it was long overdue.

REACTIONS

Princes Wilfred, a resident of Coramara cell, Omua Ward, expressed satisfaction, adding that “the council has not sensitized people about it, such move needs more information, next time they should inform people earlier.”

Godfrey Keuber, a resident of central ward said, “In fact the council delayed, I don’t like the way buses park within town, they are so disorganized.”

Mary Jane, another town dweller said “you see Paidha town lacks clear physical planning, this town’s plan I think  need an overhaul, the town is not well planned, they should do more than that.”

Paidha town council has a population of over 40,000 people most of whom are businessmen.

According to the town leadership, the multiple benefits associated with designated parking yards amongst others include an increase in user satisfaction and an increase in available parking spaces that may not have been previously realized.

Getting response from bus operators proved futile by press time.
