2025 ANNUAL RADIO PACIS BLOOD DONATION DRIVE KICKS OFF IN KOBOKO

The people of Koboko district and surrounding areas have graced the Annual Radio Pacis blood donation drive with hearts of saving lives as Blood is one of the essential component for human beings that can neither be manufactured nor bought anywhere in the world.
Silver Pariyo, the Public Relations and marketing manager at Radio Pacis says their expectation is to give at least two thousand units of blood every year to support the regional blood bank’s efforts of mobilizing blood.
“Over time we used to do the actual blood donation on March 08, on international women’s day but this year we have expanded the blood donation drive to other places that’s why today we are in Koboko, 07th of March, we shall be in Odramacaku and on the 08th of March we shall be at the OPM grounds in Arua City and across all the sub-stations in Moyo at Moyo people’s hall and Gulu in front of National Water and sewage cooperation offices,” he said.

Beatrice Osutaru a teacher by profession and one of the donors said, she decided to donate in order to save the mothers in the hospitals.
“Blood cannot be bought nor got somewhere else but manufactured in our body, as for me the only important gift that I can give to someone is my blood” she said.
Peter Seme who works with save lives Christian ministries a first time donor explains why he start donating blood.
“Yesterday we went to the hospital together with my team from the church, when I looked at the sick people suffering because of blood it gave me a burden in my heart that if I donate my blood it will save someone from dying, that’s why I came to donate today” he said.
Robert Owinji, the focal person donor recruitment West Nile region working with Uganda Red Cross Society and Uganda Blood Transfusion Services Arua reveals that though the turn up was massive, the unit given cannot be enough due to the high demand for blood in the hospitals in the region and urges people to continue donating.
“The blood you are donating right now is going to save someone and when your time also comes someone different will donate to save you because we cannot keep the blood you donate right now to wait for you when you will need it,” he added.
The annual Radio Pacis blood donation drive is an initiative by Radio Pacis and partners aimed at saving lives of people, as the Radio’s Cooperate Social Responsibility to give back to the community that started in 2018.
