FDC MEMBERS IN WEST NILE ENDORSE NANDALA MAFABI FOR PRESIDENT IN 2026

A section of the forum for democratic change (FDC)party members in the west Nile sub-region have endorsed the party’s secretary general, Nandala Mafabi, to contest for the presidency in the 2026 general election.
During a press briefing held in Arua city on Friday April 05, 2025, the members cited Mafabi’s extensive experience in leadership, education, and economic policy as key reasons for backing his presidential bid.
Muzaid Khemis the Mayor Arua Central Division who doubles as the chairman FDC party Arua central division says following thorough scrutiny, the voice of the party members of West Nile region is to ensure the next president of Uganda lands in the hands of Nandala Mafabi.
“Today the 13 districts in west Nile are saying time has come for Mafabi to take this flag as an economist, and as an experienced person, real hope of Uganda and the only hope that will bring all these broken institutions of the country in line is Mafabi, our country has reached a point of maximum danger and we must fix it,” Muzaif revealed.
John Anguyo an aspirant eyeing the position of Member Of Parliament Vurra County explains that Ugandans should focus on changing the entire leadership of the country to ensure equitable development.
“After His Excellency Museveni ruling for 40 years, the man is tired, we need a change, we need somebody to come with new ideas and the only person is Mafabi who knows the running of the economy.”
The endorsement of Nandala Mafabi as the presidential flag bearer for the FDC party comes amid ongoing internal wrangles within the FDC that led to the party’s split into factions for which many critics believe this is party has hit a dead end. Responding to the claims, Moseka Natasa the Youth Chairperson FDC party west Nile region rubbished the allegations stating that they are baseless rumors and propaganda that should be proved.
“Whoever is saying that FDC is dead, you will first show me the grave yard of FDC, when FDC died and where it is buried. You will have to show us.”
Defending the constitution of the party, Musema Swali the national secretary for legal, human rights and constitutional affairs FDC party who is also an aspirant for Terego west constituency reveal that the positions in FDC are not cast on stone for individuals as in some political parties.
“Each and every time we’re having a national election, we must give opportunity for everyone who want to contest on the party ticket an opportunity for a transparent leadership not like the other parties.”
As Uganda heads toward the 2026 general elections, most political parties have yet to publicly announce their presidential candidates.
