The Vicar of Oyam Vicariate, Rev. Canon Robert Edinga, has called on voters to avoid supporting deceitful politicians in the upcoming 2026 elections.
Rev. Edinga made this appeal during a ceremony where he received 224 iron sheets donated by Oyam District Woman Member of Parliament, Santa Alum Ogwang, to Nebu Church of Uganda in Oyam Town Council. He criticized leaders who make empty campaign promises, such as pledging to roof churches, but fail to fulfill them.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, Rev. Edinga noted that the church has so far raised 250 million shillings out of the 500 million required to complete its construction. He urged the Christian community to continue supporting the project.

Christ Ongom, Vice Chairperson of Oyam District and political assistant to Alum Ogwang, highlighted that a total of 316 iron sheets, valued at 16 million shillings, were donated to Nebu Church of Uganda and Anget PAG. Ongom emphasized the importance of using the materials effectively to benefit the Christian community.
Denis Anyeki Emuna, Chairperson of Nebu Church of Uganda’s building committee, shared the challenges faced by the church, which currently has only 20 members, making it difficult to raise sufficient funds for construction.
Grace Emuna, a member of the church, added that they still lack seats and a proper building for prayers.
Despite its current size, a report indicates that once completed, the church will have the capacity to accommodate 700 to 1,000 Christians.
