SP Collins Asea the West Nile region Police public relations officer released the statistics during the police media briefing in his office, and he attributes the increase of murder cases in the region to domestic violence, land conflicts and mob justice.

“Forty four murder cases were registered in the last three months where in the month of March, Ayivu East division in Arua City was leading, in the month of February Ayivu East and West were leading and in the month of January Nebbi district was leading, this increase in murder cases is because the community members are taking law into their hands and increase in witchcraft cases in Alur sub-region which is causing a lot of issues that side, we as police will continue with our community policing,” he said.

Asea further appeals to the public to work closely with the police and all other stakeholders to address the challenges highlighted in the police crime report and to ensure that West Nile region remains a safe and secure place for everyone.
