WOMEN, YOUTHS RECEIVE 50 SEWING MACHINES FOR EMPOWERMENT FROM ARUA CITY WOMAN MP OSORU

The Woman Member of Parliament for Arua City has been hailed by the people of Arua Central Division for her selfless service to the people of Arua City as she donated 50 Sewing Machines to support Women and Youths in Arua Central Division.
 
Hon Maureen Osoru, the Woman Member of Parliament, says the sewing machines will help in socio-economic empowerment of women and youths in Arua city alongside skilling those who are interested.
 
“We have a lot of youths in Arua city who need hands-on skills for their own good as today we are battling unemployment and now if we provide such machines for them to acquire skills and knowledge it will be able to reduce unemployment,” she said.
 
Beatrice Taliru the senior community development officer for Arua Central Division commends the efforts of the womon member of parliament for her offer and encouraged her to continue empowering the people of Arua Central Division to develop.
 
“This is to support and supplement the efforts of the government and this has come timely we shall seat at cell and ward level to organize and see how will can support the youths in the division” she said.
 
Summary Ejaga the local council ii chairman of Kenya ward welcomes the sewing machines in his ward and challenges other leaders to support and empower their people as well.
 
“This machines have come timely because we have been waiting for them some time back I am just the happiest person right now as my ward received ten sewing machines from our women member of parliament” he said.
 
Some of the electorates in Arua Central Division expressed their gratitude to the women member of parliament for the offer and appealed for support from her and other leaders in Arua city.
 
“We have so many of our children especially girls and youths in the division who have dropped out of school who can be able to learn and acquire hands-on skills which will help them,” he said. “I really want to advise my fellow youths to show up and make use of this sewing machines to acquire hands-on skills to develop ourselves,” he said.
 
The 50 sewing machines are part of the 470 Sewing machines procured by the legislator in June 2023 costing about 424 Million Ugandan shillings in fulfillment of the pledge she made while canvassing for votes during the 2021 general elections.
