HEALTH INSTITUTIONS GATHER IN ARUA CITY FOR NATIONAL INTER HEALTH INSTITUTIONAL GAMES

Arua city

56 health institutions from 6 regions in the country have gathered in Arua city to participate in the 22nd edition of national inter health institutional games that kickoff on 1st of September in Arua city.

The institutions are expected to participate in ball games, athletics, and mind games in the different pitches within in the city

During track and field games competition at Barifa, west Nile put up a good performance winning in most of the activities.

Flavia Edonia one of the participants from Kuluva who won a gold medal and a silver medal in the 400m and 1000m run express excitement over her win. “Am so happy and it’s really a great day we have qualified for internationals, we shall be representing Uganda and we hope to go as far as we can.” She was quoted saying.

Khalid Safi the coach of westnile says his team put up a good performance in the athletics and he hopes the team will also bring the best from the East Africans competitions. “My athletes did well, they participated in all the events, the track events and field events, we went for cross country and we managed to pick the both trophies for girls  and boys and we hope that the team will also put up the best performance in the international games,” he noted.

Eight pitches have been marked for the games which include Salim Saleh grounds, Ediofe girls play ground, St Joseph’s college Ombachi, Arua core PTC among others.

The city sports officer Ronald Candia says that the competitions will help the Country select the participants for the East African competitions. “They are selecting teams to represent Uganda during East African competitions, we are participating and at the same time we are in identifying participants for the East African championship,” Ronald said.

The games were to be officially opened by the State Minister for Primary Education on 3rd of September 2024 at Mvara Senior Secondary School.
