ARUA DIOCESE MOURNS THE DEMISE OF THE ONLY HOPE FOR THE VULNERABLE, REV. SR. RINA PAOLA CALIARI.

Christians in Arua diocese have eulogized the demise of a long serving sister, Rev. Rina Paola Caliari the founder of Ediofe health center 3.
Sr. Paola, a Comboni missionary born on 23rd December, 1931 came to Uganda particularly Arua at the age of 23 until she breathed her last on Monday May 22, 2023 in the morning at the age of 91years.

In an interview with Christians on the life of Rev. Sr. Paola Rina Caliari, Several Christians remembered Sr. Paola for her life of caring for the vulnerable people such as orphans, Lepers, the positive living etc.

Maltilda Drakuru Aluma who worked with Sr. Paola for 36years at Ediofe Health center iii remembers her for supporting orphans in education.
“Sr. Paola is a very kind, merciful and giving person. She had been supporting the orphans especially the two daughters of my late sister who died of AIDS by paying them to school and now one is a doctor and the other currently working with RICE WESTNILE. We saw the works of late Rev. Sr. Paola since she came here at the age of 23years”. She recalled. 

Lematia Bryan a resident of Arua city who also benefited from late Rev. Sr. Paola’s project of offering bursary to disadvantaged children attributes his success in life to the foundation laid by late Rev. Sr. Paola. “I got a very good foundation I when to St. Charles Lwanga college through her support and I was able to finish campus, all that I have attributed to Sr. Paola if it was not because of the bursary she offered me, I would not have been what I am now”. Lematia said.

Testimonies over testimony, Anthony Ebika, another beneficiary from Maracha district says Sr. Paola was a woman of integrity who welcomes everybody like Jesus.

In consolation aggrieved beneficiaries of the charitable project of late Rev. Sr. Rina Paola Caliari, Rev. Sr. Frison Luigina, the mother superior of the Comboni sisters in Uganda reveals that they shall continue with the support for the vulnerable. “We know that the poorer and the poorest among the people has always been the concern of each Comboni missionary, so that now she is no longer present, we believe that we shall try our level best to continue because this is part of our charisma. They are the reason why we have consecrated our lives”. Sr. Frison Luigina assured.   

Late Rev. Sr. Rina Paola served in Arua diocese from 1954 till she was called to rest on Thursday May 24th, 2023.
