Landslides kill 15 people and displaces hundreds in Kasese district.

Landslides triggered by heavy rains on 6th September 2022 have killed at least 15 people mostly women and children in Kasese district. Some homes were also washed away by flood waters that tore through the area located on the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Uganda Red Cross says several people were injured while hundreds displaced. A yet to be ascertained number of people are feared missing.
Kasese District chairman Eliphazi Muhindi says the office of the prime minister has been asked to intervene immediately.
