One killed in road accident in Madi-Okollo district

One person has been confirmed dead following a fatal accident in Madi-Okollo district.
The deceased has been identified by detectives as Muzaidi Godwin, a resident of Offaka area in Madi-Okollo district. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Okollo Health Center III.
The deceased was hit by an Arua-bound bus from YY bus company registration number UAY 059V at around 7pm on Tuesday at Awaa village, Okollo Sub County as he disembarked from a stationary tipper lorry which had developed a mechanical glitch.
West Nile regional Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia says investigations into the incident has commenced.
“This boy was knocked by this bus as it approached the stationary vehicle. We have impounded the bus and the body is at Nebbi hospital for postmortem. But also we have launched investigations into the fatality”, she said.
Previous incidents.
In October 25 last year, a 12-year-old boy was knocked dead by a bus in Okollo Sub County, Madi-Okollo district.
The boy died on the spot. Moments after the accident, residents formed a crowd at the scene, where the bus had tipped over.
He in the company of two other peers were crossing the road while carrying firewood, seconds before the accident happened.
