One of the longest serving police officers in Arua transferred. The Police Community Liaison Officer AIP Avubieng Micah has been transferred to Kiryadongo district. The Police Public Relations Officer for West Nile region, Josephine Angucia could not confirm the name of his replacement saying it was not confirmed to her office by the police leadership.

During an interview with Radio Pacis, Avubieng said when he was brought to Arua Central Police station as the community liaison officer, there were a lot of conflicts and violence, but due to the commitment they showed as a team, some progress was realised in fighting these crimes.
He said the biggest challenge he has left for his successor is the rampant drug abuse among the youth.

Avubieng first worked in Arua from 1995 to 1998 and thereafter he was transferred to the mid-western region. He was later brought back to Arua as the community liaison officer in 2012 where he has been until his transfer.
