Arua districts budgets 9 billion for Education in 2023/2024 financial year

The education department of Arua District Local Government has planned to spend more than nine billion shillings in the next Financial Year 2023/2024 to implement projects in different government schools and pay teachers’ salaries. According to the proposed budget, this department will need Shs. 9,382,374 financed under wages and non-wages as the main sources.

David Dramadri, Arua District’s Inspector of Schools, explains that, this proposed budget will help in implementation of planned projects to construct classroom blocks and latrines at schools that are yet to be identified. “We shall have construction of a 3-classroom block with office attached but we have not got location where this will be constructed but after the process, it will be availed” Dramadri Said. The proposed department budget indicates that, Shs. 29,876,000 will be raised under wages while a total of 9,352,498,000 will be under non-wages. To achieve the proposed budget, Roy Angumaniyo, Arua District Finance Officer, challenges all stakeholders to ensure revenue mobilization improves. “I request our stakeholders to get involved and participate in the improvement of areas identified with challenges in revenue mobilization” Angumaniyo appeals.

However, Milly Nakimuli, the Acting District Planner, says, the final district budget will be presented after different stakeholders hold discussions and completes the budgeting cycle. “We still have two stages of budget preparation for us to conclude whether out budget has increased or reduced” she clarifies.
Arua district recently presented a budget circular indicating a total of 26.1 billion shillings as the proposed budget for next Financial Year, 2023/2024.
