President Yoweri Museveni has dropped his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the Commander of Land Forces. He also promoted him to General, the highest rank in the UPDF. Muhoozi will be replaced by Major General Kayanja Muhanga, the current commander of Operation Shujja. The changes come moments after a series of tweets in which Kainerugaba announced on twitter that he was on a mission to destroy colonial borders and capture Nairobi within two weeks.

The tweets sparked online rage between Ugandans and Kenyans. Early this afternoon of 04^th October 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement reaffirming that Uganda treasures the existing strong bilateral relations between Uganda and Kenya based on the shared history between the two countries and distant itself from the tweet by the promoted first son.
