WEST NILE REGIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION OFFICE CONSTRUCTION WORKS AT 20%.

The construction of the multibillion regional electoral commission office in West Nile undertaken by National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), a business arm of Uganda People’s Defense Force, (UPDF) under ministry of defense is now at 20%.

The one year project that commenced with the site handover on 15th December 2023, among other components include construction of the office block with tally rooms, and a ware house.

A visit to the site indicate a steady progress with skeleton structure of the ground floor erected and workers at the site full of materials. Lt. Alfred Niwamanya the site engineer for National Enterprise Corporation the company undertaking the construction disclosed the progress of the project.  “So far the overall project is at 20%, we have done the preliminary works which includes clearing, excavation of the site, temporary structures and we have mobilized necessary materials and all the workers in at site. We are in preparation to cast the first floor and erecting the steel frame for the ware house,” Lt. Niwamanya elucidated.

Observation at the site puts the use of the local labor at 50% with most casual workers at the site hailing within the region. Though the project was handed over in early December, period were taken off by festive season within practical works at the site starting on 15th January this year, the company is determined to complete the project in time.

The Construction of the West Nile regional Electoral commission office is expected to end on December 15th 2024.
