13 ARUA DHO KILLER SUSPECTS NETTED

Police in West Nile region have arrest 13 prime suspects for the murder of the acting Arua District Health Officer late Paul Bishop Drileba with two of the suspects confessing their participation in the killing.

Late Paul Bishop Drileba was slain by mob on Saturday November 23, 2024 at around 2pm in Oyeku village Ombokoro parish Ajia Sub County over a land he recently acquired in the area but since then, the suspects have been living in hideout.

SP. Collins Asea the acting regional police spokesperson for West Nile confirms that so far two people have confessed killing late Paul Bishop Drileba among the 13 suspects in their custody.

“Our team on ground carried out arrests with the help of community who help in identifying the suspects, in our custody we have 13 people two of which confessed that they participated in the murder of the DHO and two are still at large, our team is on ground with the community hunting for them,” Asea confirmed.

The arrest of these suspects follows a joint operation by the police and the youth of Ajia to hunt them in their hideouts mainly in Ajia with others arrested from Madi Okollo district.

Among the suspects in custody include; Asiku Richard 36year old resident of Oyeku village Ombokoro parish, Mungufeni Eyotre, and the local council chairman of Oyeku village Atiku Stephen 41 year old who was arrested at Nsambya in Arua city while planning to board for escape, among others.

Asea however revealed that the suspects shall soon be arraigned before court as they look for two of the suspects who are yet at large.

“Currently the suspects are with police and anytime this week the file will be presented of the Regional State Attorney for advice, we have put the whole of Arua district on special attention when it come to the issue of land,”  SP. Asea stated.
