LEADERS CALL ON WEST NILE TO TAKE UP AGRICULTURE FOR A BETTER LIVING.

Arua city.
The members of the community in West Nile are called upon to back up agricultural production, and work with dedication, in order to earn a better living.
This appeal was made by the different stakeholders during the third memorial lecture for the former agricultural officer for Arua district, the late Gertrude Badaru at hotel Letsuba on the 13th of June 2024.
Dr. Gordon Toa, the production officer for Arua District encourages the members of the community to take up agricultural work seriously as a legacy left by the former district agricultural officer, so as to achieve their dreams, “You will work for somebody, if you don’t work to fulfill your dream, someone else will higher you…” Dr. Gordon said.
The Agricultural Sector continues to be the most important sector in Uganda; which employs approximately 72% of the population and contributed about 32% to the GDP.
In the same vain, Wadri Sam Nyakua, the mayor for Arua city called on the religious leaders to change the minds of their flock to take up agriculture and production, to reduce the currently high level of poverty in the region, “Many households in West Nile are still poor, and this poverty comes from the negative mindset, as they listen to you, I want to cry to you that, after preaching the word of God, take some five minutes to talk about household income” Nyakua said.
However, the bishop of Arua diocese, Sabino Ochan Odoki, encourages the leaders to utilize the legacy left by Gertrude, to lead by example in order to motivate the youths to follow their footsteps.
In the memorial lecture, a book written on the legacy of the fallen leader who encouraged many and influenced their lives positively, entitled, mindset trap was launched to motivate others towards hard work.
