130 GAMES TEACHERS IN MOYO COMPLETE HANDBALL GAME TRAINING

One hundred thirty games and sports teachers from community, private and government aided primary schools in Moyo district have completed a two days training on hand ball game.
The two days training that took place at Celecelea stadium that was facilitated by experts of the ball game ended successfully. Most of the participants who attended the training were grateful and say the training was prolific.
Ms. Madonna Patience Anzoa one of the participants from St. Mary primary school in Laropi town council says she has learnt a lot of basic skill of hand ball game. “We were taught how to measure the field, the goal post how many players are supposed to be in the field and take their position and also how to identify faults, all these will help us to train our learners in the different schools when we get back.” Ms. Madonna said.
Mr. Madrama Majid, from Moyo Sub County says he had learnt new rules of handball and skill of officiating the game. “In this training, I learnt new rules of hand ball and also learnt more on coaching and officiating, this will help me a lot as a sports teacher. Mr. Madrama said. He also added that learning new skills like passing the ball, dribbling and shooting will help him much as a trainer in the school.
Hand ball game is yet a new ball game being introduced in Moyo district in primary school to participate in.
Mr. Abindu Bernard, the hand ball trainer from madi-Okollo district said the teachers were able to learn what hand ball is, how it is played and how to officiate it “I taught them duties, roles and qualities of a good coach, I also taught them skills of hand ball play like passing, catching, dodging, dribbling and shooting and they were able to perfect it.” Mr. Abindu explained.
Mr. Edema Wilson the district sports officer Moyo says he is confident the teacher will deliver in hand ball game. “We are so much sure that our teachers are competent but they will be able train their learner in the hand ball game.” Mr. Edema said. He added that the beginning is always hard but with time this will be perfected.
Mr. Adrawa Godfrey the chairperson primary school head teachers association called for full participation in co-curriculum activities in schools. “This is preparing the learners for their future endeavors not only people live because of academia but also sports promotion helps development of talents and this might be one of the things an individual will use in future to take care of him or herself.
Hand ball involves seven players from each side of the competing sides and it is strictly played by the hand, any touch by the leg is a fault.
