St. Andrews College Moyo has emerged the winner in the regional debate competition in the west Nile organized by national debate council. The school also won in storytelling and poetry all in the same competitions that was held at muni girls’ secondary school in Arua city with 24 teams participating from different schools in the region.
Ms. Lemaru Immaculate the matron for the debate club St. Andrews’s College Moyo appreciated the school for the support towards the activities of the club. ‘‘First of all I want to thank the school for supporting us financially, emotionally but most important for ensuring that the debates at the school is conducted every Wednesday which gives the learners more confidence’’, she remarked.
She further explained that the leaners are now preparing for the national competitions that will be held at parliament, expressing hopes of the school performing even better.
Mr. Dusman Taban, The deputy principal St. Andrews College Moyo said that the school represented the Madi sub region in the national schools debate competition at the region. “this is one of the main occasions where St. Andrews represented Madi sub region ,it was yet a great moment where the school emerged victorious in the national schools debate championship organized by national debate council west Nile region and am glad that our school took all the three trophies out the four,’’ he remarked.
He also added that it is a prestige, very challenging task and a measure of how far they have come as a school
Mr. Mali Michael the District Education Officer Moyo attributed the success of the school to the high level of discipline and commitment among the leaners. ‘‘I would like to thank St Andrews for the good performance at the regional level, Am sure this has been possible because of three main issues, the school has been focused on having disciplined students with moral values ,hard work among the students and teachers,” he lamented.
He encouraged parents of children who are in day schools to provide adequate time for their children to revise their books, practice speaking English besides also overseeing their discipline.
Relatedly, one of the A level students of St Andrews collage Moyo Anyanzo Innocent who participated in mathematics contest at the national level took the ninth position.
