MOYO SS STAFF AND MODDIPU TRAINED ON INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

Teaching and non-teaching staffs in Moyo senior secondary school together with leaders of Moyo District Disabled Persons Union (MODDIPU) have completed the whole training cycle on inclusive education.
Inclusive education now referred to as raising achievement for all learners pedagogy is a program that helps all learners to be present, participate, achieve and progress with learning. The training program that started early last year ended on Tuesday August 6, 2024.
Mr. Igama Richard a teacher who is the inclusive education coordinator in the school says they now have the knowledge and skills to handle all learners with different challenges. “We have been given the tools and now energize with certificate which is a confirmation that we are now equipped to deliver the content we have learnt.” Mr. Igama said. He added that, as teachers of moyo SS they are inclusive elites to run inclusive education.
Mr. Isingoma Bigabwa James a teacher educator and a curriculum specialists at Muni University who was one of the facilitators urged the school to now offer conducive environment for all learners. “The school must have conducive environment to support learners with or without disability and those who are likely to be affected.” Mr. Isingoma urged. He also asked the school to now improve its attitude towards learners with disability and refugee for inclusive learning.
The participants have been learning about inclusive education through models from 1 to model 7 which is the last model under the cycle of the inclusive education training.
Mr. Maiku Paul Didi a member of MODDIPU while representing their chairperson commits themselves in supporting the school to ensure the program succeeds its goals. “As MODDIPU have our doors open for assistant, advice and to be consulted and also to come and participate with you for the case of success of the program. Mr. Maiku said
The program was implemented by NUDIPU funded by Norwegian Association of the Disabled (NAD) and Enabling Education Network (EENET).
Mrs. Sera Leah Diana who works with NUDIPU appealed for positive impact of the training. “This is not enough, enough is when we see the impact of this training.
Each of us is accountable to achieve or bring an impact on a learner.” Mrs. Sera said. She said as NUDIPU they stand to support every child being disable or not since it is an inclusive society.
The inclusive education that has been at primary level has now been rolled out at secondary level to ensure continuity of learning for persons with disabilities.
Moyo Secondary School has been a pilot study school.
