LIMA CATHOLIC PARISH TO RAISE SHS. 200 MILLION FOR CHURCH CONSTRUCTION

The Central Organizing Committee (COC) for the grand fundraising for the construction of Lima catholic parish has set target of sh.200 million to be achieved in the fourth coming major fundraising at the parish center.
 
This was revealed by the COC chairperson Mr. Mangasa Stanislaus during the first planning meeting on Saturday September 14, 2024 at the parish center.

According to Mr. Mangasa, strategies to achieve the target of sh.200 million for raising the wall of the church are already set by the COC for implementation.
 
Among the strategies set to raise the 200 million shilling include COC, construction committees, finance committee shall give shs.100, 000 each, catechists, chapel finance chairpersons, shall give sh.50,000 each, associations like Catholic Women Associations, CCR, Choir, shall give sh.10,000 per members at parish level, catholic workers movement will give sh.20,000 each, catholic schools shall give shs. 800,000 each, family at the parish centre shall give 50,000 and other chapels shall give sh.25, 000. Other communities and partners are expected to raise shs.120 million.
 
Mangasa say it’s a collective responsibility for all the targeted groups to raise the money before the day for the fundraising. “I want to say this fundraising calls for collective responsibility from all of us so as to achieve our target," he noted.

Ezama Godfrey vice chairperson for the fundraising appeals that the sub committees formed from various communities should work extra hard in order to achieve the target by ensuring that massive mobilization is done.
 
Ezama further says Lima should copy good example from the newly created parishes that have managed to build new churches by themselves.
 
Gabu Mathew the secretary construction committee of Lima parish said close to 20 million shillings was used for raising the foundation and the money raised in the fourth coming fundraising shall help in raising of the wall.
 
Luka, one of the Christians in Lima chapel commends the COC for coming up with the strategy of accessing every Christian in the parish as this will help to raise more funds for the project.
 
Fr. Modesto Etrima, the parish priest of Lima catholic parish calls for generosity and positive mindset from all the Christians of Lima parish towards this fundraising as no one else will come to build the church.
 
The grand fundraising shall be on January 11, 2025 and this is the second major fundraising for constructing the new church since the creation of the parish.
