Beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 17, 1996 and St. Daniel Comboni was later canonized on October 5, 2003 and celebrated by Catholic Church every October 10.

Fr. Tonino Pasolini the diocesan communication secretary of Arua diocese and a member of the Comboni missionary shared insights about the life of St. Daniel Comboni.

“Daniel Comboni has been the greatest at the time of missionaries for Africa, he promise that, he would give all his lives in order to become a true missionary and saves Africa with Africans, he had this great inspiration  to a plan for regeneration of Arica,” Fr.Tonino narrated.

St. Daniel Comboni the founder of both the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus and the Comboni Missionary Sisters is recognized as the grandfather of the missionaries in Africa with many institutions taking his patronage.

Stella Emily a member of St. Daniel Comboni choir Ediofe parish said they are emulating their patron by singing to the world. “As a member of the choir, St Daniel Comboni is the grandfather of our faith especially in Arua that was the main reason why as we chose him as our patron saint of the choir because he was a missionary, normally we don’t focus on reading Christianity like in one place we normally move to different parts of West Nile or wherever we have been invited in order to do evangelization like the way he did it,” Stella supposed.

Meanwhile at St. Daniel Comboni Ewadri chapel in Oriajini parish the feast of St. Daniel was marked by administering the sacrament of Holy Communion to over 45 young Christians.

Ronald Buleni is a choir member of Ewadri chapel. “The most important thing we got from Comboni is that, he taught us to be self-reliant, making it simple for us to stop relying on donations from the western countries. Today we used the opportunity of the feast to administer Holy Communion to 49 young Christians,” Buleni expressed.

Saint Daniel Comboni was born March 15, 1831 and died on October 10, 1881.
