MOYO DISTRICT LAUNCHES BIG CATCH UP VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

Moyo district on Tuesday November 12, 2024 launched the big catch up campaign against vaccine preventable diseases. The campaign targets children who have never been vaccinated and also those under vaccinated.
 
Country wide, all local governments and cities are undertaking the big catch up vaccination campaign which runs for six days from Tuesday November 12, to Sunday November 17, 2024.
 
In Moyo district the vaccination campaign was launched in Besia cell in moyo town council.
 
Mr. Gore Goffin, the Resident District Commissioner Moyo, says this is a government program so every parent should ensure their children are vaccinated.
 
“I want to congratulate Moyo District for this big boost of vaccination and we have launched it.  So for the next six days we would be immunizing every immunizable child in the district.”  Mr. Gore said.
 
The RDC also urged everybody to bring their children for vaccination to their nearest vaccination post.
 
Hon. Anyanzo Terry the secretary for education while representing the district chairperson at the launch says people should embrace the exercise.
 
“My request to the parents is to bring all their children for the vaccination and health centers must work vigorously to cover other percentages so that we vaccinate our children 100% especially the categories we want.” Hon. Anyanzo said.
 
Ms. Jesca Onyiertho, the Chief Administrative Officer Moyo urged communities to take government services serious.
 
“Let us take advantage of the services, let’s use them otherwise we are not going to have any excuse for not benefiting from the government services.” Mrs.  Onyiertho appealed.
 
The health personnel with the help of the village health team will use community vaccination post.
 
Mr. Adrawa Michael the assistant district health officer in-charge of maternal health urged parents to always complete their children vaccination schedules.
 
“I want to request all the parents, care givers and guardians to make sure that they start and complete all the schedules of vaccination.” Mr. Adrawa urged.
 
Ms. Grace Tajita a mother of two children from Besia cell says she has noticed that vaccinating a child is important in a Childs growth.
 
“My children have not been suffering from diseases like malaria, polio measles. Also I appealed to all parents to take immunization seriously.” Ms. Tajita.
 
The vaccination exercises is a government program implemented under the ministry of health.
