FRAUDSTER CONS MOBILE MONEY OPERATOR MORE THAN SHS. 5 MILLION IN MOYO DISTRICT

A business man operating in Drazibaa market in Logoba parish Moyo Sub County Moyo district is counting losses of 5.9 million after Wandera Bosco a dealer in mobile money and flexi pay escaped with his money.

The business man who concealed his identity to avoid jeopardizing police investigation says he has reported the matter to police. He said Wandera has been a supplier of floats and cash money for his flexi pay business.

“We have been operating with him very well, you send him floats he brings your cash money but later he started dodging me saying there is network problem or he is resetting pin. Afterwards he put off his telephone number and I realized he has disappeared. There are many people complaining of this theft cases. I sent him over eight million but he refunded some and 5.9 million is left to be paid to me.” the Business man explained.

According to the businessman, he has been dealing with the said man from last month.

Mr. Amafeku Simon the local council one chairperson of Itia Village, logoba parish says incidents of money theft and burglary from mobile and flexi pay operators is not common in his village and caution businesses to be protective and vigilant. “This is yet the first time I am getting it in Logoba parish but business people should be observant if such cases are now coming up.” Mr. Amafeku said.

Hon. Chandiga Ceaser the chairperson moyo town council noticed that cases of thefts are common in town so business operators should be vigilant.  “One of our brothers lost five million plus Ugandan shillings which is a huge amount of money, I know there are many people outside there, with in moyo who have lost money to business entities within town. We have fraudsters who use systems to manipulate our people. So I want to appeal to our people to be vigilant, the LCs in the villages, whenever they have a new face in the community to take interest.” Hon. Chandiga said.

Effort to reach police to confirm progress of investigations was not fruitful. Recently security operative in Moyo district cautioned the public on increasing theft cases in Moyo town.
