Mangapi Lawrence the LC 3 chairperson of Adjumani town council has urged the farmers to embark on land preparation ahead of the first planting season.
He said after spending resources on the festivity, they need to now start generating new income to meet their demands as they have been doing saying January and February should be used for land preparation as they will be waiting for rain.
“They must not forget that in January and February is the best period of land preparation for farming ready for the first rain such that they can plant crops for new produce which should be the focus of the people” he pointed
He further appreciated the farmers who have taken the step to make use of the tractor as their aim is to address the issue of food security.
“When I consulted some few farmers that have got tractors around, already they said that tractors have been booked,” he said.
He added that some farmers said if you are planning for your land to be cleared in January the tractors have all been booked saying people within the town areas have acquired farm land in other sub counties.
Meanwhile Taban Data Peter the Resident District Commissioner of Adjumani urged the famers to make use of the PDM Money to invest in agriculture to improve their livelihoods.
”It’s a year now that we need to double activities as far as agriculture is concerned, I want to encourage people to get money from the PDM and put it in better use, if you had one acre, you need to have four acres” he pointed
