Adumi Health Centre IV in Ayivu Division, Arua City, has received a new facility in-charge.

Dr. Lawrence Mundua comesin to succeed Dr. Felix Odur, who served for three years following the death of the late Dr. Augustine Alioma.

The facility has steadily undergone significant capacity upgrades, including infrastructure enhancements and leadership improvements, supported strategically to ease pressure on Arua Regional Referral Hospital.

During the handover ceremony, Rt Maj Betty Akello Otekat, Arua city resident city commissioner, commended the outgoing in-charge, Dr. Odur, for transforming the facility, and pledged her support to the new leadership, urging them to serve with empathy and excellence.

“The community has got high expectations from us. I want to tell you that you are not alone because everybody here have pledged their support to you. You are taking over a vital station that interfaces directly with our grass root population. Leadership in the medical sector requires a balanced clinical excellence and administrative empathy” she said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Odur, pledged his continued expertise and support for both the new in-charge and the staff.

“To the new team, let us build on what the predecessors have set in place because no one is an island but the choice is ours. I am ready for any new assignment the city will give me. I will be available to support the new team and I wish the new in-charge and his team the very best in his tenure” he said.

Dr. Mundua, expressed his commitment to serving the community in his new role and requested cooperation from all stakeholders.

“It was a lot of commitment and sacrifice from Dr Felix and his team. I only appeal for cooperation from all of you because I am not an ex-ordinary person and I am just any other person. You have made a lot of strides and that is where we are going to start from. I can promise that we shall reach to the greater heights and it is a difficult task but we have to take with passion and love” he said.

Significant infrastructural improvements included connecting the facility to the national power grid and acquiring a modern mortuary with three four-chamber body fridges, funded by Arua City Council. The center employs 41 staff members supported by government payroll, including three medical officers and five staff aided by the Infectious Disease Institute.

Established in 1950 as a community dispensary in Lia before relocating to its current site on 20 hectares of land, Adumi Health Centre IV now serves a population of over 38,000, of whom about 5% are Congolese.

The facility’s ongoing development and leadership succession reflect its commitment to providing quality healthcare to the local community and surrounding populations.
