ALUR KINGDOM HAILS THE APPOINTMENT OF LADY JUSTICE GINAMIA

Alur Kingdom has congratulated Dr. Ginamia Melody Ngwatu upon her appointment as an acting Judge of the High Court of Uganda.
President Yoweri Museveni on February 6, 2025 appointed Dr. Ginamia among 21 acting Judges of the High Court, in acting capacity for two years, to help manage the increasing caseload and improve access to justice.
In press release published on February 14, 2025 signed by the Kingdom's Spokesperson David Rupiny , Alur Kingdom described Dr. Ginamia as "subject of the historical Kingdom" and commended President Museveni over her Judicial elevation and distinguished appointment.
The statements added that " the Kingdom bestows upon her all the blessings to enable her excel in her new judicial role"
Alur Kingdom notes that the Alur are underrepresented in the Judiciary, especially in the higher levels, and appeals to the President to spot and appoint more qualified sons and daughters of the Kingdom in higher judicial ranks.
In his attempt to enhance judiciary capacity to handle high caseload, the President also appointed eight justices to the Court of Appeal; Hon. Lady Justice Florence Nakacwa, Hon. Jesse Byaruhanga Rugyema, John Musisi Mike, Hon. Justice Musa Ssekaana, Hon. Lady Justice Esta Nambayo, Hon. Lady Justice Ketra Kitariisibwa Katunguka, Hon. Lady Justice Cornelia Sabiiti Kakooza, and Stella Alibateese,
The Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, expressed optimism that the new appointments will address the high cases of backlog through improved judicial capacity adding that the appointments, align with ongoing reforms to improve judicial efficiency
Melody Ginamia, worked as Deputy Registrar at Judicial Service Commission Uganda. She previously undertook roles at Law Development Centre, Judicial Service Commission and Uganda Human Rights Commission.
She holds a 2016 – 2021 Doctor of Law in Human Rights at University of Pretoria.
