ARUA CITY COUNCIL SECURE FUNDS FOR THE PROCUMENT OF MORTUARY REFRIGERATORS

Arua City Council has approved four million Ugandan shillings supplementary budget to top up on the already secured forty two million Ugandan shillings for the procurement of four-chamber mortuary body refrigerators at a tune of 46,138,000/= for the newly constructed mortuary at Adumi Health Center IV in Ayivu Division, Arua City.
 
A mortuary refrigerator helps in isolating the corpse from the external environment, and prevent the exposure or leakage of the fluids, tissues, or gases of the corpse.
 
Hon Kalsum Abdul Fadimula the secretary for social services Arua City Council moved the motion and presented the supplementary budget to the councilors during the Arua City council seating held at the city council hall in Arua City.
 
“I wish the August house approves four million Ugandan shillings for the constructions to the medical supplies of three body refrigerators equivalent of Ugandan shillings 46,138,000/= for the newly constructed modern mortuary at Adumi health center IV for the award of submissions and actions,” she said.
 
Many mortuaries in West Nile region lacks freezers for preserving dead bodies apart from Nebbi general hospital mortuary where most of the dead bodies in the region have been taken for preservation.
 
Hon Moses Adriko the secretary for finance planning and administration Arua city council explained the purpose of requesting for the additional four million supplementary budget to the councilors.
 
“We constructed modern mortuary at Adumi health center IV this council also planned for body refrigerator and the money we planned for four-chamber body refrigerator was not enough because the quotation from the supplier went slightly higher so we did reallocation from local revenue under health which was budgeted for the activities we had to pick four million to top up the money for the procurement of body refrigerators” he said.  
 
Protecting the health and environment of the staff and the public, a mortuary refrigerator helps in reducing the risk of contamination, infection, or poisoning of the staff who handle the corpse, or the public who visit the facility.
