ARUA CITY LEADERS RALLY BEHIND MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA’S 2031 PRESIDENTIAL BID

Arua City leaders have endorsed General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for Uganda’s presidency in the 2031–2036 term. The endorsement gained momentum during the victory and thanksgiving ceremony organized by Hon. Phiona Onzima, Member of Parliament for Ayivu West, at Fee Primary School in Arua City.

Hon. Phiona Onzima, expressed her happiness about endorsing Muhoozi, believing he will lead the country to new heights.

“I want to take this opportunity to say that I have finally endorsed my next president that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031-2036, I am so happy that other leaders were able to endorse him as well and that’s the way to go, we are happy for the endorsement and believe he is going to scoop a lot of votes come that time” she said.

Recently, leaders from all 13 districts in West Nile and Arua City gathered at the OPM grounds to sign the endorsement, viewing supporting Muhoozi—who is currently the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF)—as a strategic move to facilitate a peaceful political transition and ensure the region benefits from future government projects.

Hon. Maureen Osoru, Arua City Woman MP, justified her support for Muhoozi because of his efforts to fight corruption in Uganda.

“This time we should not give any room for corruption and I want to thank Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Hon Balaam and his team who have come out boldly to fight corruption because corruption has been eating us like cancer mostly in our local governments, now the whole world now known and make up that the young people can fight corruption, I appreciate Gen Muhoozi and his team for fighting corruption in Uganda that’s why I have endorsed him today” she said.

Rt. Maj. Betty Akello Otekat, Arua City Resident City Commissioner, lauded Muhoozi for contributing to Uganda’s current peace and believed he would make an excellent leader, succeeding his father.

“Our Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is a standby generator I have decided to endorse him today because we must maintain the peace we already have in the country” she said.

The local council chairpersons, youth groups and other leaders collectively pledged loyalty to Muhoozi’s 2031 presidential bid under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). The Patriotic League of Uganda is actively conducting a nationwide signature collection campaign to rally support.

Local leaders in Arua expressed confidence that Muhoozi possesses the leadership qualities and patriotic vision needed to maintain stability and promote economic development in northern Uganda.

This widespread support reflects a regional belief that Muhoozi’s leadership will foster peace, stability, and growth as Uganda moves toward the next political era.
