Arua city council has received a new deputy town clerk following the transfer of the former city deputy town clerk Jobile Cornelius to Hoima city.

The outgone Deputy town clerk who served Arua for 18 years as a staff of the municipality in 2006 has been replaced by Charles Kabili the former deputy town clerk of Hoima city.

This follows his appointment by ministry of public service on transfer of service from Arua city local government to central government.

While handing over office on Tuesday January 07, 2025, Jobile recounted some of the lessons he learnt while serving in the office.

“In service, solidarity is both necessary and possible, I learnt to associate freely with all kinds of staff to the extent we would eat on the same plate with potters, the only way to have a friend is to be one, we call ourselves a city family but we can’t be living in fear and suspicion when we call ourselves a family, we see the city family spirit is fast diminishing, we need more unity as city family and more solidarity with the entire city population to whom we owe responsibility of service,” Jobile highlighted.

Charles Kabili the new Arua city deputy town clerk however called for team work from the staff to ensure effective service delivery. “I don’t do things in isolation, I do work with a team we must be in position to work with all to ensure that we deliver service to ensure that the government both from the lower level is known to the people,” Kabili requested.

Meanwhile Arua city Lord Mayor Wadri Sam Nyakua cautioned the new deputy town clerk to be committed to his work and service to the people. “I don’t want absentee staff, please come here be committed to work, we shall give you all the support, your absence should not be felt so much because there’s a lot of work here,” Nyakua said.

But Fiona Dribario the Assistant Deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge of Central division tasked the technocrats in the city to support the newly posted staff for effective service delivery.

“The technical staff, lets render out our necessary support to these new officials because when we work together we go far but if you decide to work as an individual, you will easily be worn out, so let’s work as one to uplift the city,” Dribario urged.
